Using Text in AutoCAD

Commands to know:

  • TEXT
  • MTEXT
  • STYLE
  • DDEDIT
  • OFFSET
  • PLOT

To do:

Start a new drawing.

Create a text style named “Plain.”

Use ROMANS.SHX as the font.

  • Height = 0.000
  • Width Factor = 1.000
  • Obliquing Factor = 0

Create a text style named “Gothic.”

Use GOTHICE.SHX as the font.

  • Height = 0.000
  • Width factor = 1.000
  • Obliquing Factor = 0

Create a text style named “Arial.”

Use ARIAL as the font.

  • Height = 0.000
  • Width factor = 1.000
  • Obliquing Factor = 0

Draw a rectangle 11.0 long x 8.5 tall (orient in the landscape position).

Create and center the following text entity 6.5″ from the bottom of the page:

  • Style = Gothic
  • Height = .450
  • Rotation angle = 0
  • Text = “Certificate of Achievement”

Create and center the following text entity 5.0″ from the bottom of the page:

  • Style = Plain
  • Height = .300
  • Rotation angle = 0
  • Text = “This is to Certify that”

Create and center the following text entity 3.75″ from the bottom of the page:

  • Style = Arial
  • Height = .400
  • Rotation angle = 0
  • Text = “[your name]”

Create and center the following text entity 2.50″ from the bottom of the page:

  • Style = Plain
  • Height = .300
  • Rotation angle = 0
  • Text = “Has Completed Lab 4”

Save your drawing as “lab_4_yourlastname.dwg”

Plot your certificate and turn it in.
